For over twenty years, Ballina Hot Meal Centre has been preparing up to 300 meals for homeless, disadvantaged, and lonely people at the Ballina Masonic Centre, twice a week. The lunches provided on Tuesdays and Fridays have been a life-saver for a growing number of people who rely on the Hot Meal Centre throughout the week, with hot and frozen takeaways also supplied. Now the collapse of ongoing funding has put the future of this vital Ballina facility into a crisis situation. The Centre was closed during the height of the pandemic in 2020, however Cherry Street Sports Club came on board in September of that year with a very wlecome injection of $25,000 per year for three years. This money will ensure the great work of Rotary Club of Ballina-On- Richmond continues to help those less fortunate than ourselves. Whether it be the homeless, the elderly, or someone who’s simply going through a rough patch - the Ballina Hot Meal Centre is a there to help them. A meal and someone to talk to.

aussies4aussies was pleased to be able to send $2,000 their way to help purchase more food for meals. Since then, we have been asked by individuals, “how can we help”. With current lockdown restrictions it’s hard to get out just to give $5 to the cause - but many want to. For this reason, we have enabled a donation button here - any amount and no surcharge. We also have donation tins in a number of businesses where you can put your loose change. Hartley’s Fresh Market, Daley’s Gourmet Meats, Ballina Fishermen’s CoOp and The Cove Restaurant are the first four.
Cherry Street Sports Club went one step further during the latest lock downs with their staff preparing meals from the clubs left over food. Not only did they cook the meals, they manned the Centre 7 days a week, instead of its usual two days. This led to our wonderful community jumping on board - starting with Hartley’s Fresh Market. Since their donation of food to assist, there has been a flood of support from all types of businesses providing meals, supplies and cash.
